I have been wanting to make my own lip balm ever since I embarked on my eco-friendly mission at the beginning of the year and finally I have managed to make some!!
Do you know how ridiculously easy it is to make your own lip balm?! It really is cost effective too, not to mention you know exactly what your adding ingredients wise so it’s perfect if you are wanting to be eco and skin friendly 🙂
All you need are three very simple ingredients; coconut oil, beeswax and peppermint essential oil! Yup guys that’s it!!!
If you have read my previous posts then you know how much I love coconut oil, and peppermint oil goes with out saying – it’s fab stuff…but I have yet to have work with beeswax, what are the benefits of using it….lets find out 🙂
Beeswax is a fabulous moisturizer and it helps to lock in moisture. It also is known to have healing antiseptic properties!
Here is how to make your luscious lip balm:
1/2 cup coconut oil
3 tbs beeswax (you can either use the beads or if like me you have a block then you will need to grate the beeswax)
8 drops of peppermint essential oil
pots to store it in
- Melt the coconut oil over a medium heat on the stove
- Once melted add the beeswax and allow to melt also
- When everything has melted, remove from the heat and add your essential oil
- Decant into your pots and once it has set your good to go!
Livvy actually helped me make this, with strict mummy supervision, we had great fun and we got to discuss how amazing bees are 😀
