Completely Christmassy Hand-prints

What do children love more than Christmas?  Yes you guessed it – getting their gorgeous little hands covered in the most ooey gooey substances!  So this art project is a dream come true for a little one… and maybe just a slight nightmare for the adult helping 😉

These wonderful little Christmas hand-prints are fabulous…not only because you can use them to decorate your tree (or stick them up wherever you so desire) but because little ones grow so fast and it’s so lovely to keep their perfect little hand-prints as a keep-sake and treasure them forever 🙂

What You Will Need

White Paper
Paint (any colour you want, Livvy wanted to use green and pink!)
Glitter
PVA Glue
Christmassy Stickers (Ours were lovingly sent to us by Granny)
Sticky Back Plastic

How We Made It

  1. Take one gorgeous little person and splodge copious amounts of paint onto their little hands! (Livvy did her own…far to independent to let mummy do it!!)
  2. Place hands onto paper and press down so they will leave a print
  3. Make as many prints as you want, then allow to dry
  4. Once dry, smother with glue and sprinkle glitter over the prints
  5. Place stickers wherever desired and allow to dry
  6. Ahh the sticky back plastic moment!  It may take a bit of practice to get it right, but it’s worth it in the end! I cut the hand prints into large squares, next I cut the sticky back plastic the same size (you will need two bits of sticky back plastic -one for the front and one for the back)
  7. Peal off one of the sticky back plastic squares and stick to the back of the hand-print, repeat for the front and then cut out the hand-print shape….. alternatively if you have a laminator you could laminate the hand-prints (so much easier!) and cut them out!

That’s it!  It really is as simple as that!! Super fun for little ones and something for us to cherish for many years to come 🙂

  1. You are so right these are something to cherish for years to come….and they would make fantastic Christmas cards with a current photo of the hand print maker on them 🙂
